Frequently asked questions about the Lux Photo experience, what to expect, how to prepare, and more!

GENERAL FAQ’s

Can we meet before we shoot?

While the majority of our bookings are completed online and via email, we can definitely schedule an in-person consultation when requested at our studio in Colorado Springs! We'll sit back and chat about things like photo style/theme, date and time, wardrobe options, and any other questions or concerns you may have after seeing our pre-shoot prep materials.


Do you have a studio?

Our home studio is located in Colorado Springs! We also have access to third-party studio space or other private venues as needed. We even have portable equipment for indoor spaces where natural light may not be abundant.

 When shooting outside the studio, we do portrait work outdoors in many of the beautiful locations provided by our nature-rich state. There's no better way to capture your natural beauty than with natural light! Contact us for suggestions on where to do your shoot!


Do you have a second shooter?

YES! Cole is our primary photographer and Carly does everything else from second shooting and assisting to photo editing and wardrobe styling.


Do you always have an assistant?

Carly and Cole work best as a team, and are both photographers (rather than 1 photographer + 1 assistant)- therefore you always get two photographers for the price of one when booking with Lux!


Do you provide video film services?

YES! We both shoot video. We have a variety of options for recording video- an iPhoneX using ProMovie, a GoPro Hero 6 and a Sony A6500! We then edit and splice your video using Adobe After Effects and Premiere.


What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept PayPal as our preferred invoicing system. Don't have a PayPal account? You can check out with your credit card as a guest! Prefer a different payment processor? We can use our Square reader to take your credit card ANYWHERE- Online or on our mobile phones!

Do you hand-edit my photos?

YES! We hand-edit every image. This is an easy way to avoid over-edited images- and we don't batch-process! With over 16 years of experience using the Adobe Creative Suite, we've developed a workflow using primarily Photoshop for our editing needs.


If you’d like to handle all printing and shipping, we do offer print release for an extra fee! Otherwise, we have an amazing print vendor and you may order prints through us and get it shipped right to your door- no hassle! Your printed images will be watermark-free.


What if I lose my photos?

Digital copies can be retrieved from us at no charge (although we don’t keep files backed up for longer than six months post-session. Files are large and require careful and costly backup and protection). If you require prints or other á La Carte items, we must charge you the current cost of the print and shipping. No hidden fees or handling charges.


What is your cancellation policy?

  • The Client will be required to complete a Booking Form. On receipt of the booking form, Lux Photo will send an email as confirmation. The booking will then be considered Confirmed. 

  • Once the Client has made a booking for a specific time and date and this date/time has been Confirmed, Lux will not accept any other work from a other clients for those times and dates; 

  • As a result, once a booking is Confirmed, please complete cancellation as follows: (i) When a client cancels a confirmed booking within 3 business days of any confirmed date, no fee will be charged; (ii) When a client cancels photography within less than 3 days business of any confirmed date, a fee of 20% of the booked rate will be charged; (iii) In addition to this cancellation fee, the client will be charged for any expenses already incurred by Lux Photo (such as travel or equipment/space rental).


Do you have a referral discount?

Absolutely! Refer a friend or colleague and you will receive a $100 credit toward your print product order. Your friends are our friends too, so you'll also receive a $100 voucher toward either your next session or a friend's! (Must be redeemed within 14 days.)

 

WEDDING FAQ’s

Do you photograph destination weddings?

Of course we do! If your wedding is more than 35 miles outside of Colorado Springs, we will add $4 per mile traveled to your total invoice to accommodate for things like fuel and other incidentals. If your wedding is outside the state of Colorado, we will have to charge for travel accommodations. If your wedding is taking place outside of the US, please give us at least 6 months of notice so we can make necessary travel plans.


Do you offer extra coverage if needed?

Definitely! We clear our entire day's schedule for your wedding so we are available for as long as you need us. Just keep in mind that we additional hours of coverage may incur additional fees. If you anticipate a 2-day session, please schedule a minimum of 4 weeks in advance. 

If you need to reschedule or change venue locations, please let us know ASAP!


Will my photos have a watermark?

Your digital images will come with a watermark. We use the watermark on our website to prevent image theft and plagiarization. All print products ordered from us, such as canvases and albums, will be watermark free.


How many images can I expect?

We are fast on our feet and some of the most talented natural light photographers. We don't have to wait for a flash or strobe to be ready (although we do have flashes and softboxes for dimly-lit venues). In about 2 hours you could have up to 100-150 images to look through and choose (that's even after we delete the double takes, odd expressions, blurry images and other non-desirables). In that same 2-hour time frame, you could also get up to 20 minutes of usable video footage! So that's 150 images AND a 20 minute video in 2 hours WITH A SINGLE PHOTOGRAPHER! Our recently expanded equipment collection allows us to add a second shooter to your wedding when needed/requested.


Do you deliver every image you capture?

Your photo package will come with a specified number of hand-edited images. If you want to purchase all the images from your session, you may do so via our a la carte menu. However, your raw image gallery may not include all of the images we captured. A typical wedding takes THOUSANDS of pictures, so we cull images that are double takes, blurry, or otherwise unsatisfactory to save everyone time when we review.
